MAC 10 Hume & Hovell 6HR Rogaine

 

An ominous clap of thunder sent the 79 rogainers off on their 6 hour journey around the streets, parks & bushland of Albury, Lavington and Thurgoona. A few cooling showers early on soon gave way to pleasantly mild conditions for the rest of the day which were much appreciated by the competitors.

 

The Metrogaine (foot) event was dominated by the Super Veterans (55+) with Merv Trease & Vic Sedunary collecting 1680 points to edge fellow Super Vets Len Budge & Tim Dent with 1580 points. Third overall and first of the locals were Andrew Shadbolt & James Louw with 1480 points.

 

Kath Copland & Kevin Humphrey were clear winners of the Cyclogaine section collecting an impressive 3260 points of a possible 3420, visiting 52 of the 60 controls available and only omitting the lower point value controls. 6hrs and 100+km on Mt Bikes is not enough for Kath & Kevin with the pair backing up on Sunday in the Multisport Event. Second placed team in the Cyclogaine was Andrew Baker, Brett Sparkes & Peter Brooks with 2980 points, third place and first local team went to Fab Andreoni & John Trevivian with 2720 points.
