Highlights from MAC 09
Some 1,000 sporting enthusiasts from across the nation enjoyed participating in Albury for MAC 09.
Highlights from the weekend included Hugh Zerbst taking home $1,000 prize money for his second successive open men's Multisport Challenge. The talented junior athlete, 17, famously won last year's five discipline adventure race challenge after giving himself just five weeks to prepare - and this year he did it with even less training under his belt!
Mount Beauty's Tory Thomas, won the elite women's category for the cross country mountain bike race while in the men's elite class brothers Paul and Neil Van de Ploeg fought it out with Neil edging out Paul by only six seconds.
Local Norm McCann finished first for the orienteering event collecting all of the 840 points with only two minutes to spare. And, professional triathlete, Jesse Featonby enjoyed his second successive win in the Aquathon with ironman Tim Berkel following closely behind.
Other impressive performances over the weekend came from Chloe Hosking in the women's long and short course road cycling criterium, with Belgium pro rider, Emma Mackie a close second.
