The Voices for MAC09

MAC welcomes back Richard Grant and introduces Mark Levy as race commentators for MAC09.

They'll keep you up-to-date and entertained with all the sporting action over the weekend. Make sure you're at the event to hear them call the races and interview our local and state sporting personalities.

Meet the voices of MAC09:

Richard Grant

Why hello, I’m Richard Grant, long time reader, first time writer.

Having been involved in a range of sports my entire life, having several injuries ruling out a career in elite sport, I somehow found myself standing in a paddock at a mountain bike event holding a mic and commenting a 24 hour race…

From these humble commentary beginnings, I found myself emceeing the inaugural Albury multisport event, as well as a number of mountain bike endurance races around Victoria, including the Gravity 12 hour and Beechworth 6 hour.

I’m excited to be back here for MAC09 and am certainly eager to work with one of Sydney’s leading sports commentators!!!

Mark Levy

G'day I'm Mark Levy, Radio 2GB's afternoon Sports Editor and Newsreader.

I first discovered my love of sport when I was a young bloke growing and tried everything from baseball to boxing and tennis to taekwondo. I think reporting on sport is a much more appropriate field for me though.

My working life kicked off at Sydney race meetings where I was employed as an oncourse Operations manager for the TAB. But a distinct voice commentating races each weekend came to my attention and I thought to myself, "I'd love to give that a go", so I did.

Soon after, I was employed by Sky Channel as a producer and reporter where I put together a range of programs, including the award winning country show 'Off the Beaten Track' which allowed me to travel around Australia filing stories on the colour and characters of racing.

After five and a half years at SKY, it was time to move on, a part time position came up at Radio 2GB reading the Sports news. I worked casually for 12 months before I was put on full time and am now heard presenting the Sport each and every afternoon.

I am still getting over the trip to Beijing where I was a part of 2GB's exclusive Olympic team headed up by Australia's leading sports broadcaster Ray Hadley. It was a long three weeks over there but well worth it and a great experience.
