Rogaining
Teamwork, endurance, strategy and map reading are all part of the game for the MAC 10 Hume & Hovell 6HR Metrogaine and Cyclegaine.
Rogaining is a team activity for people of all ages and fitness levels. All you need is good footwear for the metrogaine and a bike for the cyclegaine; a mountain bike for off-road navigation or hybrid bike if keeping to urban areas. Plus bring a compass, whistle, pencil, water bottle and a basic team first aid kit. You won't need expert navigation skills for either event as 80% of the course will be in urban areas of Albury and surrounds.
Before the start of the event, each participant will receive a map of the course with all the checkpoints marked on it. This will include details of the checkpoints and their point values. Teams choose their own route to get to whichever checkpoints they want. It is important to get back before the time limit expires as there are hefty point penalties for being late! At each checkpoint competitors will be required to answer a multiple choice question on the control card as proof of having visited the control. Rogaining is a team sport (2-5 members) and the team must stay together at all times. At the end of the event, meet back at Hovell Tree Park (2 minute walk from the start/finish area) for hot food fresh out the Wood Fired Oven.
